Robbery at Stewarts in Fort Johnson

State Police at Fonda responded to a reported armed robbery that occurred at approximately 5pm at the Stewarts on Main St in the Village of Fort Johnson.
A white male had robbed the store with the threatened use and display of a knife. He took money from the register and then fled on foot in a Northerly direction on Lepper Road.
A search of the Village, area woods, and cemetery, led to the discovery of some clothing and sneakers used in the robbery. State Police then located 3 suspicious subjects and interviews of those three resulted in conflicting alibis. Further interviews led to admissions from the subjects and recovery of the stolen money.
The three were taken to the Fonda Barracks for further investigation where statements admitting to the robbery were obtained. They revealed that they had parked in the cemetery above Fort Johnson and one of the subjects walked to the Stewarts with the intent of committing the robbery while the other two waited in the car for his return.
Nicholas B. Angelo, 29, of Amsterdam was arrested for Robbery 1st.
Robert A. Brumley, 24, of Amsterdam, was arrested for Conspiracy 4th, and Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 5th.
Caitlyn M. Starke, 25, of Stillwater, was arrested for Conspiracy 4th, and Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 5th.
All three were arraigned in the Town of Amsterdam Court. They were committed to the Montgomery County Jail in lieu of $25,000 cash or $50,000 secured bond.
State Police investigation continues as interviews revealed that one or more of the subjects may have been involved in other robberies in the Montgomery and Saratoga County area.
