Two arrested in Tioga after displaying gun

(Tioga, NY - June 28, 2017) – On June 27, 2018 New York State Police at Owego arrested William M. Hyer, age 35, of Owego, NY for the felony of Tampering with Physical Evidence, the misdemeanors of Menacing in the 2nd degree and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Eini M. Raupers, age 41, of Owego, NY was also arrested for the felony of Tampering with Physical Evidence.
The arrest stems from a verbal dispute that started at a residence on Airways Road in Tioga. State police were called after Hyer and Eini came to the home and began to argue with the residents. Hyer is accused of brandishing a handgun and threatening to shoot one of the residents. An investigation revealed that Hyer and Eini hid the gun after the dispute.
Troopers arrested both Hyer and Eini a short time later. Hyer and Eini were arraigned in the Owego Town Court. Hyer was remanded to the Tioga County Jail on $15,000 cash bail or $30,000 bond. Eini was released on her own recognizance.
