Holiday sobriety checkpoint yields several arrests

28-year-old Jonathan Crowl, of Amsterdam, for Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs and Unlawful Possession of Marihuana. Following his arrest, a State Police Drug Recognition Expert confirmed Crowl’s impairment. Crowl had two toddlers in the vehicle he was driving and was charged with two counts of Aggravated DWI-Child in Vehicle (known as "Leandra’s Law") and two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child. He was ordered to appear in the Broadalbin Town Court on July 9th.
25-year-old Michael Kelly, of Amsterdam, for Driving While Intoxicated. Kelly tested at a .11% blood alcohol concentration. He will make an August 13th appearance in the Broadalbin Town Court.
49-year-old Barbara Ruchel, of Mechanicville, for Driving While Intoxicated. She tested at a .09% blood alcohol concentration. Ruchel will appear in the Broadalbin Town Court on July 9th.
33-year-old Celeste Fay, of Boylston, Massachusetts, for Criminal Possession of Marihuana 5th degree. She was found with 55 grams of marihuana. She will answer her charge in the Broadalbin Town Court on July 2nd.
52-year-old Robert Sammon, of Albany, for Unlawful Possession of Marihuana. He was found with a plastic baggie, containing the drug. Sammon was issued an appearance ticket, returnable July 9th in the Broadalbin Town Court.
Troopers were pleased to meet several designated drivers who were giving safe rides to people who had been drinking alcoholic beverages.
