PRESS RELEASE

(Decatur, NY – July 9, 2018) – On July 5, 2018 at approximately 2:11 a.m., New York State Police at Oneonta arrested Kevin P. Matthews, age 28, of Worcester, NY for the misdemeanor of Unlawful Use of a Motor Vehicle. 
 
Troopers were dispatched by Otsego 911 to a report of a vehicle that was taken without the owner’s permission.  The victim told troopers that Matthews took his vehicle on the morning of July 4, 2018.  The victim also said another vehicle in his driveway sustained damage. 
 
On July 5, 2018 troopers from SP Cobbleskill observed the vehicle traveling on Interstate 88 in Richmondville, NY.  After a traffic stop was initiated, troopers arrested Matthews for the misdemeanor of Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs and other charges.    
 
Matthews was later turned over to troopers at SP Oneonta where he was arrested for Unlawful Use of a Motor Vehicle.  He was arraigned in the Decatur Town Court and remanded to the Otsego County Jail on $1000 cash bail or $2500 bond.
