Schaghticoke Man Arrested for Rape
NEW YORK STATE POLICE
Major Robert E. Patnaude
Troop G Commander
Brunswick Troopers arrested a Schaghticoke man on Rape charges Tuesday. David Canary, 41, is accused of having sexual intercourse with a child less than 15 years old. The arrest stems from a months-long investigation that led to Canary previously being arrested for Rape in the 3rd degree, Criminal Sex Act in the 3rd degree and Endangering the Welfare of a Child by the State Police in Brunswick and Clifton Park, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child and Unlawful Dealing with a Child by the Mechanicville Police Department. These arrests resulted from illegal contact Canary had with children under the age of 16. Tuesday, Canary was charged with three counts of Rape in the 2nd degree, a Felony, and 3 counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, which is a Misdemenaor. He was arraigned in the Town of Schaghticoke Court by the Honorable Judge Bruce Arnold, and remanded to Rensselaer County Jail in lieu of bail. He is due to reappear in Schaghticoke Court at a later date. Anyone with information is asked to call the State Police at 518-279-4427.
