PRESS RELEASE

(Tioga County, July 12, 2018) – On July 11, 2018 at about 9:56 a.m., a joint investigation between the New York State Department of Labor and the New York State Police at Owego resulted in the arrest of Ransome S. VanRiper, age 40 of Newfield for the felony of Grand Larceny in the 3rd degree. 
 
Troopers arrested VanRiper after he turned himself in to troopers on an active County Court warrant. VanRiper is accused of taking over seven-thousand dollars in unemployment benefits in 2014 while he was employed.  
 
Van Riper was arraigned in the Tioga County Court and released under the supervision of probation.
