31 July 2018 Missing Richmondville Girl Located NEW YORK STATE POLICE
Major Robert E. Patnaude Troop G Commander PRESS RELEASE
July 31, 2018 - SP Cobleskill The New York State Police in Cobleskill with the assistance of Cobleskill Police Department K9, Schoharie County Sheriff’s Office, and Schoharie County Child Protective Services, have located Amanda Putorti, age 17, who was reported missing from the Town of Richmondville on March 1, 2018. On July 30, 2018, Police responded to a residence in Preston Hollow, NY where Putorti was found hiding in a small compartment in the wall. Investigation revealed that Putorti may be at that location and was not being held against her will. Putorti was assisted by several individuals who were preventing authorities from locating her.
Arrested in conjunction with the investigation was John Winnie, age 34, Jeremy Schaefer, age 38, and a 17-year-old male, all of Preston Hollow. They were all charged with Obstruction of Governmental Administration in the second degree and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Investigation is continuing.
The State Police would like to thank the public for their assistance by providing helpful information including sightings during the course of the investigation that lead to Putorti being located. ![]() ![]()
