Troop L – Mastic man arrested following a shooting at the Shinnecock Indian Reservation.

On Saturday September 1st, 2018 at approximately 8:00pm Troopers assigned to a security detail at the Pow Wow on the Shinnecock Indian Reservation in Suffolk County heard shots fired near the area of the Pow Wow grounds.
Upon their arrival to the area where the incident occurred, they observed a male, later identified as Devon Trent, 23 of Mastic New York, involved in a physical altercation with other Pow Wow attendees. Witnesses reported Devon Trent was holding a black semi-automatic gun and fired one shot and an unknown subject closest to Trent grabbed the gun and a physical altercation ensued and during the altercation a second shot was fired.
Witnesses stated the unknown male ran from the area with the gun and stated he was headed to security. No one was injured from the result of the gunfire, the identity of the male who left the scene with the gun, and the whereabouts of the gun are unknown. The case is ongoing and being handled by State Police (BCI) Bureau of Criminal Investigation. Trent was arrested and charged with:
Trent is being held for morning arraignment at the town of Southampton Court.
