01 October 2018 Conklin man arrested after stabbing ![]() NEW YORK STATE POLICE Major William F. McEvoy Troop C Commander PRESS RELEASE (Conklin, NY - October 1, 2018) - New York State Police have arrested a 67-year-old man after a stabbing in the town of Conklin Sunday night. Shortly after 7 p.m., New York State Police at Binghamton responded to 663 Conklin Road in Conklin for a reported stabbing. It was determined that an altercation had taken place and one subject was being treated for an apparent puncture wound and the suspect had left the scene. Broome County 911 broadcasted the description of the vehicle that left the scene with the suspect inside. A Binghamton City police officer spotted the vehicle on Burr Avenue in the City of Binghamton and stopped it. The suspect, Douglas A. Slater, age 67 was discovered to be the passenger of the vehicle and was taken into custody without incident. The victim was transported to Wilson Memorial Hospital in Johnson City where he underwent surgery. Slater was charged with one count of first-degree assault and was remanded to the Broome County Jail without bail where he awaits further court proceedings. ![]() Douglas A. Slater
