Raymondville man arrested following hit and run investigation

On September 28, 2018, State Police arrested 51-year-old Timothy A. Bethel, of Raymondville, after he struck a motorcycle from the rear, injuring both subjects. Bethel then left the scene. The incident took place on September 17, 2018, just before 4 p.m. on Marsh Road in Norfolk. Car parts, including the vehicle’s Buick emblem were recovered at the scene. On September 18, 2018, the car was located in a wooded area not far from the scene of the hit and run.  The victim's were treated and released from Canton-Potsdam Hospital with minor injuries.


Subsequent to an investigation, Bethel was determined to be the operator and lone occupant of the vehicle. The vehicle did not belong to him and Bethel did not have the owner’s permission to drive it. As a result, Bethel was charged with seven felonies including two counts of Reckless Endangerment 1st degree, two counts of Assault 2nd degree, Criminal Mischief 3rd degree, Criminal Mischief 2nd degree and Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle 1st degree.  He was arraigned in Norfolk Town Court and released to the supervision of probation.
