Body of missing St. Johnsville woman located

On Tuesday, October 2, 2018, the body of Michaela MacVilla was found in the town of Oppenheim, Fulton County.
Michaela was last seen in the early morning hours of Tuesday, September 25, 2018, as she left the Stewart’s Shop in the village of St. Johnsville, where she had just finished her shift.
Michaela did not return home and was reported missing to the St. Johnsville Police Department later that day.
St. Johnsville Police initiated an investigation, and on Thursday, September 27, requested that the state police assume the investigation.
Police followed up on dozens of leads and conducted numerous interviews in connection with the investigation.
On October 2, MacVilla’s body was discovered by a property owner on Kringsbush Road, searching their land after learning of her disappearance.
An autopsy is being conducted by forensic pathologist Dr. Michael Sikirica at Albany Medical Center.
A manner of death has not been determined at this time, and the investigation into her death continues.
