Franklin man arrested for identity theft

(Sidney, NY – October 10, 2018) – On October 5, 2018 at approximately 2:55 p.m., New York State Police at Sidney arrested Mathew M. Woodard, age 30 of Franklin, NY for the felony of Identity theft in the second degree and the misdemeanor Resisting Arrest.
A complainant told troopers Woodard was hired to repair enclosures to a basement at a residence in Sidney and was given a credit card to purchase materials. The victim accused Woodard of using the card to purchase personal items for himself that were not authorized. Troopers located Woodard in the town of Franklin where he resisted arrest. He was arraigned in the town of Sidney Court and remanded to the Delaware County Jail on $2,5000 cash bail or $5,000 property bond. His next court date is October 11, 2018.
