The New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation from the Bath barracks announces the arrest of a Bath woman regarding an ongoing investigation into the production, distribution, and sale of methamphetamine in Steuben County. State Police arrested Amber R. Crout, age 33, of Bath, NY, and charged her with Falsifying Business Records, 1st degree (class “E” felony) and Criminal Possession of Methamphetamine Manufacturing Material in the 2nd Degree (class “A” misdemeanor). Investigators allege that during the months of July and August 2018, at various locations in Steuben County, including the Tops Market in the village of Bath, Crout purchased a pseudoephedrine product in an amount and frequency which exceeded federal regulations governing the purchase of pseudoephedrine products, with the knowledge that it would be used to unlawfully manufacture methamphetamine.
On an unrelated manner, Crout was also charged with Criminal Trespass, 2nd degree, for allegedly unlawfully entering a residence in the town of Thurston on 10/14/18. At the time of her arrest, Crout was found to be in possession of a quantity of suspected Methamphetamine, and was subsequently charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, 7th degree (class “A” misdemeanor).
Crout was arraigned before village of Bath Justice Chauncey Watches and remanded to the Steuben County Jail in lieu of $1,000.00 cash bail / $2,000.00 property bond. She is scheduled to reappear in Bath Village Court on October 17, 2018 at 3:00 P.M.
