Troy, NY female arrested for Possessing a Stolen Vehicle after pursuit with New York State Police

New Paltz, NY - On October 29, 2018, at approximately 8:16 p.m., State Police received a (BOLO) be on the lookout for a reported stolen vehicle in the area of I-87, town of New Paltz. State Police observed the vehicle and attempting to effect a traffic stop, but the suspect vehicle sped away and a short pursuit was initiated. After a short distance the pursuit was terminated by State Police for safety reasons. The suspect vehicle continued to flee recklessly and crashed the vehicle a short time later. The driver Marcia Foster, age 24, of Troy, NY was taken into custody without further incident. She was transported and processed at SP Newburgh, where she was subsequently charged with:
  • Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the 4th degree; a Class E Felony 
  • Reckless Endangerment 2nd degree; a Class A Misdemeanor
  • Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 2nd degree; a Unclassified Misdemeanor
  • Obstruction of Governmental Administration 2nd degree; a Class A Misdemeanor
  • Unlawful Possession of Marihuana; a Violation
  • Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle 3rd degree; a Class A Misdemeanor
  • Multiple Vehicle and Traffic Violations
Foster was arraigned in the Town of New Paltz Court and remanded to the Ulster County Jail in lieu of unknown bail. A return court date of October 30, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. has been set in the Town of New Paltz Court.
