On November 2, 2018, the New York State Police Community Narcotics Enforcement team, along with a State Police canine unit, assisted the Elmira Police Department Drug Enforcement Unit with execution of a search warrant at an apartment at 450 Albert Street in the city of Elmira. The search warrant was the result of a two-month long investigation into the sale of narcotics out of the residence.

The investigation resulted in the arrest of Tamell Williams-Atkins, age 28, on three counts of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree, a Class B Felony.  Police stopped Williams-Atkins in a vehicle leaving 450 Albert Street prior to the execution of the search warrant, and he was found to be in possession of more than eight grams of crack cocaine, marijuana, and more than $900 in cash.

During the search warrant, police seized an additional quantity of crack cocaine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Police also located a loaded handgun that was reported stolen out of the state of Pennsylvania. Additional charges are pending.
