Brooklyn, NY man arrested for possessing over 5 pounds of Marihuana subsequent to a traffic stop.

Umberto A. Lagalante 


Plattekill, NY – On December 4, 2018, at approximately 8:10 p.m., State Police stopped a vehicle on I-87, in the town of Plattekill for several vehicle and traffic violations. During the Trooper’s interview of the driver for the traffic violations probable cause to search the vehicle and its occupants was established. The driver Umberto A. Lagalante, age 23, of Brooklyn, NY, was found to be in possession of approximately 5.4 pounds of Marihuana and Marihuana cigarettes containing  approximately 101 grams of concentrated cannabis. Lagalante was taken into custody, transported and processed at SP Newburgh where he was subsequently charged with:   
 
  • Criminal Possession of Marihuana in the 2nd degree; a Class D Felony
  • Unlawful Possession of Marihuana; a Violation
  • Criminal Possession of Marihuana 4th degree; a Class A Misdemeanor
  • Vehicle and Traffic Violations
 
 
Lagalante was arraigned in the Town of Plattekill Court and released on his own recognizance. No return court date available at this time.
