State Police investigate fatal crash in Fowler

On December 2, 2018, at approximately 10:36 a.m., State Police responded to a report of a two-car-crash on State Highway 58 and Country Club Road in the town of Fowler.
An investigation at the scene revealed a 2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser, operated by John G. Reilly Jr., 93, of Fowler was traveling south on Country Club Road, when he failed to yield the right of way at a stop sign at the intersection of State Route 58 and struck a 2005 Pontiac Bonneville driven by Marlene E. Watson, 83, of Gouverneur, who was traveling west on State Highway 58. Reilly was transported to the Canton-Potsdam Hospital, for chest pain, back pain and head lacerations. He is currently listed in stable condition. Watson was transported to Gouverneur Hospital with a minor knee injury. The front passenger in Reilly’s vehicle, Anna M. Reilly, 95, of Fowler, was transported to Canton-Potsdam Hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries.
On December 3, 2018, an autopsy was performed on Anna Reilly by Jefferson County Medical Examiner, Doctor Samuel Livingstone, at Canton-Potsdam Hospital. Doctor Livingstone determined the cause of death to be blunt force trauma. The manner of death is ruled to be accidental.
