Man from Butternuts arrested after domestic dispute

(Butternuts, NY – December 5, 2018) – On December 3, 2018 at approximately 4:19 a.m., New York State Police at Oneonta arrested Michael S. Collins, age 37 of Butternuts, NY for the misdemeanors of Unlawful Imprisonment in the second degree, Criminal Obstruction of Breathing and Criminal Mischief in the fourth degree.
Troopers were dispatched to a residence on Wilbur Hill Road in the town of Butternuts for a domestic dispute. After an investigation, troopers determined that Collins and a victim were involved in an argument that turned physical. The victim accused Collins of choking, taking a phone away when the victim attempted to call for help and not allowing the victim to leave. The victim told troopers they ran to neighboring residence for help. Collins was subsequently arrested and arraigned in the town of Butternuts Court where he was released on his own recognizance. The judge issued an order of protection to the victim.
