NEW YORK STATE POLICE
Major Darrin S. Pitkin
Troop B Commander
On November 30, 2018, at approximately 1:07 a.m., State Police received a report of a burglary alarm at the Indian Lake Stewarts Shop. Troopers responded to find the front door to Stewart's had been broken, an unknown suspect made entry into the building and then left prior to law enforcement responding.
Store surveillance video showed a male break into the store using an axe. It was determined the suspect stole two packs of Marlboro Light cigarettes.
During the course of the investigation, a trooper responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle in a parking area on Starbuck Road in Indian Lake. The vehicle was located. The operator, Caelan L'Hommedieu, 22, of North Creek, was wearing clothing which fit the description of the suspect observed ion the store surveillance video. L'Hommedieu was also found in possession of Marlboro Light cigarettes. He was ordered to exit the vehicle and refused to cooperate. L'Hommedieu failed to comply and a vehicle pursuit ensued south on State Route 28, in the town of Indian Lake. The pursuit was terminated by State Police. However, L'Hommedieu and the vehicle were later located at his residence on State Route 28, in North Creek. L'Hommedieu was placed under arrest and he actively resisted. While effecting the arrest of L'Hommedieu, one trooper sustained a broken finger. The trooper was treated at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.
L'Hommedieu was charged with one count of Burglary 3rd degree. He was arraigned in the Town of Indian Lake Court and remanded to the Hamilton County Jail in lieu of $2,500 cash bail, $5,000 bond. More charges are pending.
