Illegal Transport of Wildlife

PRESS RELEASE
 
On December 8th, 2018, State Police stopped to assist a motorist with a flat tire on I-86 in the Town of Ashland, Chemung County.  During the encounter the Trooper noticed a dog cage in the back of the pickup truck which contained a Canadian Lynx.  With the assistance of New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, it was discovered that the occupants in the truck were transporting the Lynx illegally from Illinois to Binghamton, NY.  The operator of the motor vehicle was charged with transport/possess threatened wildlife without a permit.  The Lynx was turned over to DEC.
