3 Subjects arrested for a home invasion in Shelter Island

During the evening of December 14, 2018, the Shelter Island Police responded to a 911 report of a home invasion in the center of town where a female subject was reporting that she was held at gunpoint by several unknown male suspects who fled the residence. The victim, who was emotionally distraught, was transported by Shelter Island EMS to Eastern Long Island Hospital for evaluation. Shelter Island Police Department responding officers were able to quickly collect some preliminary evidence and began a process that led them to Yonkers New York. With the assistance of the Yonkers Police Department three suspects were detained in the early morning hours of December 15. Responding Shelter Island and New York State Police BCI Investigators interviewed and later arrested three suspects who were brought back to Shelter Island for arraignment and prosecution. The New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Forensic Investigation Unit are working with the Shelter Island Police Department in collecting additional evidence and information as this case is ongoing and it is anticipated that additional charges and arrests may be presented to a Grand Jury at a later date.
