Yonkers, NY – On January 5, 2019, at approximately 2:25 a.m., State Police responded to a report of a two car motor vehicle accident on I-87 in the City of Yonkers.  It was reported that a Toyota Rav4 struck a Volvo pick-up truck and fled the scene with heavy front end damage.  The Rav4 was located soon after, disabled on the Governor Mario M. Cuomo Bridge.  The driver of the vehicle, Victor R. Salazar, 37, of Clifton, NJ, was found to be intoxicated.  He was transported and processed at SP Tarrytown where his blood alcohol content was determined to be 0.23%. Salazar was subsequently charged with:
 
  • Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated; an Unclassified Misdemeanor
  • Leaving the Scene of a Property Damage Accident
  • Vehicle and Traffic Violations
 
Salazar was turned over to a sober third party and released on appearance tickets returnable to the City of Yonkers Court on January 24, 2019 at 9:30 a.m. 
 
No one was injured as a result of the accident.
