30 January 2019 NYSP investigates fatal car-pedestrian in Dryden ![]() NEW YORK STATE POLICE Major William F. McEvoy Troop C Commander PRESS RELEASE (Dryden, NY) - A 54-year-old Dryden man was struck by a vehicle on Turkey Hill Road in Dryden Tuesday night and subsequently died of his injuries. New York State Police at Ithaca are investigating the accident that occurred at approximately 7:09 p.m., Tuesday, January 29, 2019. Troopers was dispatched to the area of Turkey Hill Road near Stevenson Road, members from Varna Fire and Rescue were already assisting the victim and performing CPR. An investigation revealed that the 54-year-old Michael S. English was walking north in the road pushing a bicycle when he was struck by a vehicle driven by a 25-year-old Ithaca woman who was also traveling north. A preliminary investigation shows that the 54-year-old man was walking in the lane of travel and left of the fog line, not along the shoulder. The roadway is not lit in the area and he was wearing dark clothes. The woman who struck the male did stop immediately and is cooperating with investigators. No tickets have been issued at this time. The New York State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit responded to the scene and is assisting with the investigation.
