All lanes of the Wantagh State Parkway have been reopened.

1:30PM - Sunday February 3rd

The Wantagh State Parkway is shutdown again, northbound from Old Gas to Merrick Avenue.  An update will be made again when the roadway opens.

On Saturday February 2nd, 2019 at approximately 4:44 PM a vehicle, a 2007 Honda Accord, was traveling northbound on the Wantagh State Parkway, south of W6, at a high rate of speed.  The vehicle lost control, struck a guiderail and both the driver and the passenger were ejected.  The driver is identified as Anthony Chiantella, 27, of Bayville, NY and the passenger was identified as Nicholas Mustakas, 24, of Port Jefferson Station.  Both subjects were transported to Nassau University Medical Center in critical condition.  The driver, Anthony Chiantella, was arrested and charged with Vehicular Assault 2nd and Driving While Intoxicated.
 
This is an ongoing investigation and the State Police ask any witnesses to contact the State Police Long Island Headquarters at (631) 756-3300.

On Saturday February 2ndt, 2019 at approximately 4:44 PM a there was a one car serious injury crash on the Wantagh State Parkway, northbound, in the town of Hempstead, Nassau County.  Two people injured in the crash and both were transported to a local hospital.
 
All lanes of the Wantagh State Parkway are shutdown both northbound and southbound.

The roadway is shutdown northbound at Old Gas and it is shutdown southbound at exit W6.
 
The State Police are asking any witnesses to this collision to contact Headquarters at (631) 756-3300.
