State Police investigate fatal fire in Lyon Mountain

PRESS RELEASE
 

On February 10, 2019, at approximately 1:55 a.m., State Police responded to a structure fire at 6 Second Street in Lyon Mountain. Following the response of fire and EMS, a victim identified as 22-year-old Codi Smithers was located deceased in an upstairs bedroom. Father of the deceased, 49-year-old Christopher Smithers, sustained burn injuries to his torso, face, and hands. He was transported to the University of Vermont Health Network at Champlain Valley Physician Hospital in Plattsburgh for treatment.

 

Clinton County Coroner David Donah responded and authorized removal of the deceased by Walker's Funeral Home to the University of Vermont Health Network at Champlain Valley Physician Hospital in Plattsburgh. An autopsy has been scheduled for February 11, 2019.

 

State Police continue to work with Clinton County Fire Investigators and New York State Fire Investigators to determine the cause of the fire.
