Fire destroys home in Otego

PRESS RELEASE

(Otego, NY - February 11, 2019) - A residence in Otego was completely destroyed after a fire early Monday morning.  Troopers from SP Oneonta were dispatched to a fire on County Road 5 in the town of Otego at approximately 1:09 a.m. 

The sole resident, a 76 -year-old male escaped but did not have a way of calling for help.  A passerby spotted the male outside of his residence and was able to call 9-1-1.  The elderly resident was taken to A.O Fox Hospital by CMT EMS for exposure to the cold weather.

Otego Fire Department, Wells Bridge Fire Department and West Oneonta Fire Department all responded to the scene.  Members from the Otego Fire Department are working with county fire investigators to determine the cause of the fire.
