On February 11, 2019, at approximately 5:10 p.m., State Police conducted a traffic stop on I-87 southbound in the town of Chazy, on a 2003 Subaru Forester for the operator using earphones while driving.
He was found to have a fraudulent New York State Inspection sticker in the windshield of his car. The driver then gave the investigating trooper a false name and date of birth. The male was eventually identified as Nicholas E. Williams, 34, of Ellenburg. A check of his license revealed it was revoked. Williams was arrested and charged with Forgery 2nd degree (felony), False Personation (misdemeanor), Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 2nd degree (misdemeanor), and further ticketed for use of earphones while driving and uninspected motor vehicle. He was arraigned in Chazy Town Court and remanded to the Clinton County Jail in lieu of $1,000 cash bail.
