Buffalo woman arrested for prison contraband in Ogdensburg

On February 10, 2019, at approximately 8:37 a.m., State Police responded to the Ogdensburg Correctional Facility for a report of a visitor found in possession of drugs. 43-year-old Tonya L. Bensman of Buffalo, NY was found in possession of a quantity of synthetic marijuana and cocaine subsequent to a NYS DOCCS K9 alert.
She was arrested and charged with two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th degree and one count of Promoting Dangerous Prison Contraband 1st degree. Bensman was arraigned in the Morristown Court and remanded to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility in lieu of $500 cash bail, or $1,000 bond.
