Update: State Police investigate death in Altona

Update: On March 6, 2019, an autopsy was performed on Driscoll by Doctor Laura Schned. Dr. Schned determined the cause of death to be blunt force trauma to the head. Clinton County Coroner David Donah ruled the manner of death as accidental. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is assisting in this investigation.
Original release: On March 5, 2019, at approximately 11:24 a.m. the New York State Police investigated a report of a male subject not conscious and not breathing in the woods behind 240 Atwood Road in the town of Altona. The investigation revealed that David V. Driscoll, 58, of Milton, Vermont, was struck by a falling tree while engaged in logging activities.
Driscoll was pronounced deceased on scene after life saving measures were attempted. Clinton County Coroner David F. Donah authorized removal of the deceased to the University of Vermont Healthcare Network at the Champlain Valley Physician's Hospital in Plattsburgh where an autopsy will be performed at a later date and time. A preliminary review of the scene by the New York State Police indicate Driscoll’s death to be accidental in nature. This remains under investigation.
