State Police Troop "L" investigates fatal crash on the Southern State Parkway

State Police Troop "L" are investigating a two-vehicle fatal crash that occurred on April 24, 2019 at approximately 1:30 p.m. on the Southern State Parkway eastbound, west of exit 35 in the town of Babylon, Suffolk County. 

The driver of one of the vehicles is deceased. Two passengers in that same vehicle were critically injured, and a third suffered non-life threatening injuries. 

The parkway remains closed eastbound at exit 35. Further updates will be posted here on the online newsroom. 


Investigation revealed that a 2005 Toyota Sienna with four occupants, was traveling eastbound on the Southern State Parkway west of Exit 35 (Wellwood Ave.) when it made contact with a 2014 Toyota Camry traveling in the center lane and lost control. The Sienna then exited the roadway onto the right shoulder and struck a tree. The Camry made a controlled stop onto the right shoulder. The operator of the Sienna, Aaron Jagroop, age 18, of S. Ozone Park, NY, was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Two of the occupants, Shania Seenarine, age 16, of S. Ozone Park, NY, and Kevin Khemraj, age 15, of Jamaica, NY, were transported to Good Samaritan Hospital and Stony Brook University Hospital respectively and are currently in critical condition. The remaining occupant, Brandon Dianand, age 19, of S. Ozone Park, NY, was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the Camry did not sustain any injuries and was released from the scene.
