Troop "C" members arrested nine people for Driving While Intoxicated or Driving While Ability Impaired over the weekend. 

On May 3, 2019 at approximately 2:11 p.m., New York State Police at Endwell arrested Laurie M. Margolis, age 59 of Ossining, NY for the misdemeanor of Driving While Intoxicated.  A trooper was dispatched to a two-car accident at the intersection of Airport and East Maine Roads in the town of Union.  No injuries were reported.  It was determined that Margolis rear-ended the trailer of a vehicle that was waiting at the red light.  The trooper observed several common characteristics consistent with alcohol intoxication.  After an investigation, she was arrested.  Margolis refused to submit to a chemical breath test.  She was transported to Broome County Central Arraignment and Processing and will appear in the town of Union Court on May 21, 2019. 
 
On May 3, 2019 at approximately 8:33 p.m., New York State Police at Homer arrested Brandie L. Mono, age 45 of Marathon, NY for the misdemeanor of Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs.  A trooper was dispatched to check the welfare of an unconscious woman half way in her vehicle and the other half of her body outside of the vehicle in the Save A Lot parking lot on State Route 281 in the town of Cortlandville.  The trooper and an officer from the city of Cortland police responded.  After an investigation, Mono was arraigned in the town of Cortlandville court where she was released on her own recognizance.  She’s scheduled to return on May 20, 2019. 
 
On May 3, 2019 at approximately 9:29 p.m., New York State Police at Homer arrested Richard L. Meldrim, age 65 of Cortland, NY for the felony of Driving While Intoxicated with a Previous Conviction within 10 years.   The trooper stopped the vehicle Meldrim was operating because it did not have any operating headlights while on State Route 281 in the town of Cortlandville.  After an investigation, he was arrested for DWI; with a reportable B.A.C of .10%.  Meldrim was later released on appearance tickets returnable to the town of Cortlandville court on May 28, 2019 then turned over to a sober third party. 
 
On May 4, 2019 at approximately 4:02 a.m., New York State Police at Binghamton arrested Christopher L. Zawiski, age 26 of Great Bend, PA for the misdemeanor of Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated, with a reportable B.A.C of .22%.  Troopers on patrol observed a vehicle stopped in the middle lane of Interstate 88 in Binghamton.  The troopers immediately observed several common characteristics associated with alcohol impairment.  They also observed several open containers of alcohol.  After an investigation, Zawiski was arrested.  Zawiski was processed then turned over to Broome County Central Arraignment and Processing. 
 
On May 4, 2019 at approximately 8:10 p.m., New York State Police at Owego arrested Andrea S. Grippo, age 36 of Greene, NY for the misdemeanor of Driving While Intoxicated.  A trooper initiated a traffic stop after he observed Grippo to be speeding while on State Route 17 in the town of Owego.  The trooper observed several indicators associated with alcohol impairment.  After an investigation, Grippo was arrested.  Her reportable B.A.C was .16%.  She was processed and later released on appearance tickets to the town of Owego court on May 21, 2019 then turned over to a sober third party.
 
On May 4, 2019 at approximately 9:01 p.m., New York State Police at Binghamton arrested Lori A. Brown, age 57 of Maine, NY for the felony of Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the first degree and the misdemeanor of Driving While Intoxicated with a reportable B.A.C of .14%.  Troopers responded to a dispute on Wiser Road in the town of Colesville where a female was driving up and down the road.  When troopers arrived, the learned that Brown was involved in an argument and drove to the residence intoxicated.  She was arrested, processed and turned over to Broome County Central Arraignment and Processing.
 
On May 5, 2019 at approximately 11:20 p.m., New York State Police at Owego arrested Eduardo J. Vazquez-Wallmar, age 24 of Binghamton, NY for the misdemeanor of Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs.  He was also issued several traffic tickets.  A trooper initiated a traffic stop after he observed Vazquez-Wallmar speeding and to have an equipment violation while on State Route 17 in the town of Owego.  The trooper’s investigation revealed that Vazquez-Wallmar was impaired by a drug and he was arrested.  His passenger, Carlos E. Vazquez was issued a ticket for the violation of Unlawful Possession of Marihuana.  Vazquez-Wallmar was processed and both men were released on appearance tickets returnable to the town of Owego court on May 21, 2019.  
 
On May 6, 2019 at approximately 11:23 a.m., New York State Police at Oneonta arrested Jason T. Day, age 39, of Oneonta, NY for the misdemeanor of Driving While Intoxicated with a reportable B.A.C of .08%.  A trooper observed Day make several traffic violations in the town of Oneonta, he was ultimately stopped on Keith Street in the town of Oneonta.  After an investigation, Day was arrested.  He was processed and issued tickets for DWI, speeding, obstructing an intersection, driver’s view obstructed and moved from lane unsafely.  Day will appear in the town of Oneonta court on May 14, 2019.
