Amherst, NY man arrested for Felony DWI following a traffic stop on the Thruway.

Cheektowaga, NY – On May 12, 2019, at approximately 3:00 a.m., State Police stopped a vehicle on I-190 in the town of Cheektowaga for multiple traffic violations. The driver of the vehicle, Valentino J. Lanier, 42, of Amherst, NY, was found to be intoxicated. He was transported and processed at SP Buffalo, where his blood alcohol content was determined to be a .15%.
Additionally, Lanier has a prior DWI conviction within the last 10 years and is required to operate a vehicle with an ignition interlock device. He was subsequently charged with Driving While Intoxicated; a Class E Felony, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the 1st Degree; a Class E Felony, Operating a Motor Vehicle with No Ignition Interlock Device; a Class A Misdemeanor and multiple Vehicle and Traffic Violations.
Lanier was turned over to a sober third party and released on appearance tickets returnable to the Town of Cheektowaga Court on May 28, 2019 at 9:00 a.m.
