Bronx Woman Arrested in Watervliet for Stealing Unemployment Benefits

On May 14th, 2019, the New York State Police at Latham arrested Rafaelina Castro age 28, of the Bronx, for the D-felony of Grand Larceny in the 3d Degree. Castro was also charged with the E-Felonies of Offering to File a False Instrument 1st Degree and Falsifying Business Records.
In 2017 and 2018 while residing in Watervliet, Rafaelina Castro is alleged to have been employed while she fraudulently collected over $8,000 in New York State Unemployment Benefits. An investigation was initiated by the New York State Department of Labor and was later turned over to the New York State Police at Latham.
An arrest warrant was issued for Castro and after 4 months of searching, Castro was located and arrested in the Bronx by New York State Police members in Troop NYC. Castro was arraigned in the city of Watervliet Court where she was released to the supervision of Albany County Probation.
