On May 24th, 2019, Troopers out of SP Jamestown arrested Darrick Kight, 35, of Jamestown, for Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree, three counts of Criminally Possessing a Hypodermic Instrument and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana.
The Troopers received a report of a male subject in a vehicle in and out of consciousness in the Dollar General parking lot in Sherman, and that there were multiple needles in plain sight inside the vehicle. The male subject, later identified as Kight, regained consciousness and drove east on I-86, where he was located and pulled over by the Troopers for driving erratically. Kight was arrested after failing several SFSTs and the following items were located in his possession: three hypodermic needles, an aluminum can bottom containing burnt heroin residue, a plastic bag containing heroin residue and a glass smoking device containing marijuana residue. Kight was transported to SP Jamestown where he was evaluated by a Chautauqua County Drug Recognition Expert who determined that Kight was under the influence of heroin. A blood sample was obtained from Kight at UPMC Hospital and Kight’s processing was concluded at SP Jamestown. Kight was then transported to the Chautauqua County Jail.
