PRESS RELEASE

On May 26, 2019, at 10:43 pm, State Police in LaFayette responded to a reported serious personal injury accident on Kinyon Road in the town of Otisco.

A preliminary investigation has revealed, a 1998 Dodge pickup truck, operated by Joseph Wallingford-Stirner, age 26 from Jamesville, NY was traveling at a high rate of speed on Kinyon Road in the town of Otisco when he lost control of the vehicle, exited the south shoulder of the roadway, struck a culvert, becoming airborne and then striking a tree. The vehicle then became engulfed with fire.

Mr. Wallingford-Stirner was pronounced deceased at the scene.  A passenger in the truck, Nathan E. Casolare, age 24, from Tully, NY had self-extricated prior to patrols arriving on the scene.  He was transported to Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse for minor abrasions.

The investigation is continuing.
