Troopers arrest a Utica man on drug charges after traffic stop

On June 9 at approximately 4:00 a.m, the New York State Police in Canandaigua arrested Deion J. Sanders, 21, of Utica for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana following a traffic stop on I-90 in the town of Farmington. Upon interviewing the vehicle operator for his speeding violation, an odor of marijuana was detected from within the vehicle. A search of the vehicle and occupants led to the seizure of a Hydrocodone pill from Mr. Sanders’ wallet, as well as a small amount of marijuana, which Mr. Sanders also claimed as his. He was taken into custody and released on appearance tickets after processing, returnable to the town of Farmington Court on June 24 at 6pm. The operator was cited for his speeding violation and released.
