Altamont man and Berne woman arrested for Auto Stripping

Subsequent to an investigation by SP Princetown Troopers and the Bureau of Criminal Investigation, Julia M. Duma and Joseph R. Cranker were found to have stolen a catalytic converter from a 1998 Honda SUV and damaged the catalytic converter on a 2002 Dodge Van owned by a third party. The parts removed and damage caused by both suspects, totaled an excess of $1,000 between both vehicles. Both suspects were charged with one count of the Class E Felony Auto Stripping 2nd degree, two counts of Criminal Mischief 3rd degree, and two counts of the Class A Misdemeanor Conspiracy 5th degree. Duma and Cranker are believed to have been involved in similar type incidents within the local area.
Duma and Cranker were arraigned in the Town of Princetown court and remanded to Schenectady County Jail.
