Clay Man arrested for breaking into apartment and choking a female resident

State Police arrested Darnell E. Holland, age 24, from Clay, NY for Burglary 2nd degree (C felony), Criminal Obstruction of Breathing (A-misdemeanor), and Criminal Mischief 4th degree (A-misdemeanor)
On June 20, 2019, at approximately 6:40 p.m., State Police responded to 1 Candlelight Lane in the town of Clay for a reported burglary that just occurred.
Investigation revealed the suspect, Darnell Holland forcibly entered the apartment, which was occupied, looking for another male who he was having a dispute with over money. Holland then grabbed a female occupant of the residence, who is five-months pregnant, and started choking her to the point of going unconscious. He then fled the scene prior to patrols arrival.
At 9:44 p.m., Holland was taken into custody without incident at a friend’s house in the town of Salina. He was processed at SP North Syracuse and transported to the Onondaga County Justice Center for centralized arraignment.
