Pedestrian in critical condition after struck by car in Unadilla Saturday morning

On July 13, 2019 at approximately 8:12 a.m., New York State Police at Sidney responded to a pedestrian struck by a vehicle while on County Road 4 in the town of Unadilla.
An investigation revealed that 69-year-old Susan Haney of Unadilla was walking south on the eastern shoulder of County Road 4 when she was struck by a 2007 Jeep Patriot. The SUV was operated by 34-year-old Nicole L. Wilbur of Unadilla.
Wilbur was traveling north on County Road 4 when she became distracted and drifted off toward the eastern shoulder and struck Haney, throwing her several feet off the road. Wilbur immediately stopped and called 911. Haney was reported to have suffered from head trauma, internal bleeding and leg injuries; she was semi-conscious at the scene. Haney was flown to Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse where she underwent surgery and is listed in critical but stable condition.
Wilbur was issued tickets for Reckless Driving, Moved From Lane Unsafely and Failure to Use Due Care For Pedestrian. The investigation is on-going.
