*UPDATE*

State Police confirm the identity of the swimmer located deceased in the Great Sacanadaga Lake to be that of 36-year-old Major L. Adams of Saratoga Springs. Adams was located by seachers at approximately 10:50 a.m. this morning.

State Police was assisted during the response to this incident by multiple local and state agencies which include: 
NYS Department of Environmental Conservation, Fulton County Sheriff’s Office, Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office, Northville Volunteer Fire Department, Edinburgh Volunteer Fire Department, the dive teams from Corinth Fire Department and South Glens Falls Fire Department, Fulton County Emergency Services Coordinator, Fulton County Coroner’s Office, Saratoga County Fire Coordinator, Greater Amsterdam Volunteer Ambulance Corps ( GAVAC), Northampton Volunteer Ambulance Service, and the Sean Craig Fund.

The investigation is ongoing, any updates will be posted to the newsroom.

On July 20, 2019, at approximately 8:50 p.m., State Police responded to the Northampton State Campground for a report of a missing boater. The subject was swimming in the Great Sacandaga Lake off of a boat in the area of Northampton Campground, when they began having difficulty swimming and went underwater. 

 

The State Police Underwater Recovery Team responded to conduct a search. They were assisted by NYS Department of Environmental Conservation, Fulton County Sheriff’s Office, Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office, and several fire departments. Search efforts have concluded for today and will be continued tomorrow morning. The individual’s identity is not being released at this time.
