PRESS RELEASE

The New York State Police in Ithaca are investigating a shooting that took place in the early morning hours in the parking lot of an apartment house on Shaffer Road in the town of Newfield.  Troopers responded to a complaint of shots fired and discovered that a male subject was transported to Cayuga Medical Center for treatment for a gunshot wound to his back.  The victim was later transferred to Upstate University Hospital where he is being treated for a non-life threatening injury. 

State Police are looking for a dark colored SUV that was seen leaving the area moments after the shooting and traveled south on Shaffer Road.  Anyone with information is asked to call the State Police in Ithaca at (607) 347-4440.
