Guilderland Man Sought in Fraudulent Check Scheme Arrested

On August 14th, 2019, State Police in Latham arrested 24-year-old Cameron S. Dobbs of Guilderland, for four counts of Felony Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument 2nd degree, felony Grand Larceny 3rd degree, and misdemeanor Providing a False Statement.

On July 8, 2019, State Police Investigators from SP Latham, received a complaint from the suspect’s former employer, that five checks totaling $4,300.00 were deducted from their business checking account. The victim stated that he had paid Dobbs with a business check for work that he had done for him in the past, but that he had not written the new checks. During the investigation, it was discovered that Dobbs had deposited the five fraudulent checks into his own checking accounts, on five separate dates. Dobbs also lied to Investigators by providing a false statement while being interviewed regarding the case. He was arraigned in Guilderland and Colonie Town Courts, and Albany City Court.
