An investigation revealed that a 52-year-old Richard A. Dibble of Bainbridge was operating a 2003 Honda Civic and traveling west on County Route 37. The driver of the Ford 350, 68-year old Susan C. Simpson of McDonough attempted to avoid the collision but was unable to and crashed into the driver side door of the Honda. Both vehicles then exited the roadway.
The driver of the Honda was transported by helicopter to Wilson Memorial Hospital where he died of his injuries. The passenger of the Honda, 71-year-old Florence A. Dible of Bainbridge was transported by Guilford EMS to Wilson Memorial Hospital.
The driver of the F-350 declined medical treatment. One of the twelve cows was killed during the crash.
The New York State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit (CVEU) responded to the scene to assist with the investigation. No tickets were issued. The accident remains under investigation.
