Early morning crash reroutes traffic on State Route 12

PRESS RELEASE

New York State Police at Norwich responded to an early morning crash at approximately 4:41 a.m. on State Highway 12 near Phetteplace Road in Norwich. 

An investigation reveals that a 42-year-old male of Chittenango operating a delivery truck was south on State Highway 12 when it crossed over striking a tractor trailer head-on.  The driver of the tractor trailer, a 45-year-old male from Lisle attempted to take evasive action but was unable to.  The tractor trailer caught on fire after impact. 

The driver of the delivery van was transported to Wilson Memorial and later moved to Upstate, sustaining non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the tractor trailer was not injured. 

The roadway was re-opened shortly before noon. 

More information will be released as it is made available. The accident remains under investigation.
