*UPDATE*: State Police investigate fatal crash
 Major Robert E. Patnaude
 Troop G Commander

Skyler Crouse has been charged with Harassment 2nd degree, a violation, after he spit on a member of the media that was covering his arraignment.
State Police have charged Skyler B. Crouse for Manslaughter 2nd degree (C felony), Reckless Endangerment 1st degree (D felony), Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle 1st degree (D felony), and Resisting Arrest (A misdemeanor).
Crouse was arraigned at Warren County Centralized Arraignment Part and remanded to Warren County Jail without bail.
The deceased driver is identified as Joseph D. Turcotte, 38, of Brant Lake.
On Thursday, September 26, 2019, at approximately 8:10 a.m., State Police patrols monitoring traffic northbound near exit 19 on 1-87, observed a vehicle traveling in excess of 90 mph in a work zone.

Troopers attempted stop the vehicle for speeding, but the driver, Skyler B. Crouse, 30, failed to comply, continuing at a high rate of speed.

Law enforcement pursued Crouse for several miles and used a tire deflation device to deflate the vehicle’s tires just south of exit 25.

With one tire deflated, Crouse exited the Northway at Exit 25, still traveling at a high rate of speed, struck another vehicle on the off-ramp, killing that driver.

After striking the vehicle, Crouse continued across Route 8, with his vehicle coming to a rest on the northbound entrance ramp.

Crouse suffered non-life threatening injuries in the crash, was taken into custody and transported to a local hospital.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing.

The name of the deceased is not being released at this time, pending notifications.

The exit 25 off ramp, northbound, I-87, and Route 8 in that location are closed until further notice.

More details will be released as they become available.
