PRESS RELEASE

Members from Troop C arrested over thirty people for Driving While Intoxicated or Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs during the month of September. 

On September 1, 2019 at approximately 5:02 a.m., New York State Police at Binghamton arrested David C. Trudeaux II, age 23 of Binghamton, NY for the misdemeanors of Driving While Intoxicated, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the third degree and Resisting Arrest.  He was also issued tickets for Leaving the Scene of a Property Damage Accident, Moved From Lane Unsafely, No License and Refusal to Submit to a Breath Test. Troopers were dispatched to the area of Kattelville Road and Bridge Street in the town of Chenango for a report of an accident where one operator of the vehicle fled the scene.  A witness advised Trudeaux’s location but when troopers attempted to speak to him, he ran.  He was taken into custody after a brief foot pursuit.  An investigation revealed that Trudeaux was driving a vehicle in an intoxicated state, drove off the roadway through several lawns and damaged multiple mailboxes, a fence and truck cap.  Trudeaux was processed and subsequently turned over to Broome County Central Arraignment and Processing.
 
On September 1, 2019 at approximately 5:51 p.m., New York State Police at Homer arrested Harleigh J. Young, age 27 of McGraw, NY for the misdemeanor of Driving While Intoxicated and issued tickets for Speeding and Failure to Notify DMV of Address Change.  A trooper on patrol on State Route 11 near Hoxie Gorge Road in the town of Cortlandville observed Young speeding.  A traffic stop was initiated and the trooper observed that Young appeared to be intoxicated.  After an investigation, she was arrested for DWI, with a reportable B.A.C of .13%.  She was subsequently released on appearance tickets to the town of Cortlandville on September 23, 2019 then turned over to a sober third party. 
 
On September 2, 2019 at approximately 4:21 p.m., New York State Police at Sidney arrested Michael G. Dean, age 52 of Harpursville, NY for the misdemeanor of Driving While Intoxicated.  A trooper traveling on State Highway 7 in the town of Colesville observed Dean in his vehicle, stopped on the roadway.  When the trooper went to check on Dean, he drove off.  A traffic stop was initiated and the trooper observed several common characteristics commonly associated with alcohol impairment.  After an investigation, Dean was arrested.  He was processed then transported to Broome County Central Arraignment and Processing. 
 
On September 2, 2019 at approximately 6:50 p.m., New York State Police at Sidney arrested Warren W. Gravelin, age 38 of Masonville, NY for the misdemeanor of Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs.  He was also issued a ticket for speeding.  Troopers were dispatched to the area of Pine Hill Road in the town of Masonville where they located a vehicle off the roadway and damage.  Gravelin had struck a garbage can and a tree stop.  After an investigation, he was arrested for DWAI.  He was later released on appearance tickets to the town of Masonville court on September 10, 2019.
 
On September 5, 2019 at approximately 2:24 a.m., New York State Police at Owego arrested Anthony S. Andrade Jr., age 57 of Tampa, FL for the misdemeanor of Driving While Intoxicated with a reportable B.A.C of .15%.  Troopers traveling on State Route 17 in the town of Nichols observed Andrade traveling on State Route 17 unable to maintain his lane and initiated a traffic stop.  As troopers interviewed Andrade they observed several common characteristics associated with impairment.  After an investigation, he was arrested, processed and subsequently released on appearance tickets to the town of Nichols court on September 18, 2019 then turned over to a sober third party. 
 
On September 5, 2019 at approximately 11:05 p.m., New York State Police at Endwell arrested Marcia A. Ottey-McKenzie, age 40 of Binghamton, NY for the misdemeanor of Driving While Intoxicated.  She was also issued a ticket for Refusal to Submit to a Breath Test.  A trooper was dispatched to a report of an erratic driver on East Main Street in the town of Union.  The trooper observed Ottey-McKenzie operating her vehicle when she abruptly pulled over, parked on East Main Street, jumped out of the vehicle and got into the passenger seat.  The trooper observed that Ottey-McKenzie appeared impaired.  She subsequently failed Standardized Field Sobriety Tests and was arrested.  Ottey-McKenzie was processed and transported to Broome County Central Arraignment and Processing.
 
On September 6, 2019 at approximately 11:58 a.m., New York State Police at Greene arrested Rachel L. Eldred, age 33 of Smithville, NY for the misdemeanor of Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs and the violation of Unlawful Possession of Marihuana.  She was also issued a ticket for speeding.  Troopers observed Eldred speeding while on State Highway 206 in the town of Greene and initiated a traffic stop.  After an investigation, troopers determined Eldred was impaired and she was arrested.  Troopers also located a small quantity of marijuana and a pipe with marijuana residue.  Eldred was arrested and released on appearance tickets returnable to the town of Greene court on September 12, 2019 then turned over to a sober third party. 
 
On September 7, 2019 at approximate 8:40 p.m., New York State Police at Owego arrested Christopher A. Zaimoff, age 34 of Chenango, NY for the felony of Leandra’s Law Driving While Intoxicated (with a prior conviction within 10 years), the misdemeanors of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Reckless Driving and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation.  He was also tickets for Moved From Lane Unsafely, Unsafe Turn and Speeding.  A trooper monitoring traffic on State Route 17 in the town of Owego observed Zaimoff traveling at a high rate of speed and pulled out of a u-turn when Zaimoff increased his speed, failing to maintain a lane and not use a turn signal almost resulting in a collision.  The trooper initiated a traffic stop and Zaimoff pulled over, nearly striking a guiderail.  The trooper immediately observed a young child in the vehicle and that Zaimoff appeared to be intoxicated.  After an investigation, he was arrested for DWI.  The child was turned over to a sober third party.  Zaimoff was processed and arraigned in the town of Owego court where he was remanded to the Tioga County Jail on $2,500 cash bail or $5,000. 
 
On September 8, 2019 at approximately 4:16 a.m., New York State Police at Binghamton arrested Willard R. Tinsley, age 44 of Binghamton, NY for the misdemeanor of Driving While Intoxicated with a reportable B.A.C of .12%. Troopers observed Tinsley operating a vehicle on Corporate Drive in the town of Kirkwood with an equipment violation and initiated a traffic stop.  After an investigation, Tinsley was arrested.  He was subsequently processed and released on appearance tickets to the town of Kirkwood court on September 24, 2019 and turned over to a sober third party. 
 
On September 8, 2019 at approximately 4:00 a.m., New York State Police at Endwell arrested Jayson Santiago, age 35 of Endwell, NY for the misdemeanor of Driving While Intoxicated with a reportable B.A.C of .15%.  Troopers on patrol in the area of Harry L. Drive and North Baldwin Street in the village of Johnson City observed a vehicle disabled in the intersection with fresh damage on it.  They also observed another vehicle (parked) with fresh damage but the owner of that vehicle did not wish to make a police report.  After an investigation, troopers determined that Santiago was operating his vehicle drunk and he was arrested.  He was subsequently processed and later released on appearance ticket to the Johnson City Village court on September 18, 2019 then turned over to a sober third party. 
 
On September 8, 2019 at approximately 8:32 p.m., New York State Police at Homer arrested James E. Cogswell, age 69 of Taylor, NY for the misdemeanor of Driving While Intoxicated with a reportable B.A.C of .11%.  He was also issued tickets for Speeding and Possession of an Open Container.  A trooper observed Cogswell speeding while on State Route 41 in the town of Solon.  A traffic stop was initiated and the trooper determined Cogswell was impaired.  He was subsequently arrested and issued appearance tickets to the town of Solon court on October 9, 2019 then released to a sober third party. 
 
On September 8, 2019 at approximately 9:38 p.m., New York State Police at Newfield arrested Candi M. Conklin, age 39 of Ithaca, NY for the misdemeanor of Driving While Intoxicated.  She was also issued tickets for Refusal to Submit to a Breath Test, Moved from Lane Unsafely, Failed to Use Designated Lane and No Back-Up Lights.  A trooper monitoring traffic on State Route 13 near Buttermilk Falls observed a vehicle which appeared to accelerate loudly, then the reverse lights turn on abruptly and then turn into a parking lot in the city of Ithaca.   As the trooper interviewed Conklin, she observed several common characteristics associated with impairment.  After failing standardized field sobriety tests, Conklin was arrested.  She refused to provide a chemical breath test.  Conklin was released on appearance tickets to the city of Ithaca court on October 3, 2019 and turned over to a sober third party.  
 
On September 9, 2019 at approximately 2:31 p.m., New York State Police at Richfield Springs arrested Jessica L. Griffin, age 29 of Houston, TX for the misdemeanor of Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated with a reportable B.A.C of .18%.  Troopers observed Griffin on State Highway 28 in the town of Hartwick cross over the center line on two occasions and initiated a traffic stop.  As troopers interviewed Griffin, they observed common characteristics associated with alcohol impairment.  After an investigation, Griffin was arrested.  She was arraigned in the town of Hartwick court where she was released on her own recognizance and turned over to a sober third party.  Griffin’s next court appearance is scheduled for October 9, 2019. 
 
On September 12, 2019 at approximately 9:31 p.m., New York State Police at Binghamton arrested Michael F. Morelock Jr., age 42 of Triangle, NY for the misdemeanors of Driving While Intoxicated, Criminal Obstruction of Breathing and Criminal Mischief in the fourth degree (Prevent Emergency Call).  He was also issued tickets for Moved from Lane Unsafely, Speed Not Reasonable and Prudent and No License. Troopers were dispatched to a report of a domestic at a residence on Academy Street in the town of Triangle.  The victim accused Morelock of getting into a verbal argument and choking them.  In the course of the investigation, another person accused Morelock of taking their phone as they were attempting to call 9-1-1 to call for help.  Morelock fled the area in a vehicle.  As troopers were attempting to locate Morelock, another trooper was dispatched to a one-car motor vehicle crash on Castle Creek Road in the town of Chenango.  Troopers located Morelock’s vehicle but he had already left the scene.  Troopers and Broome County Sheriff’s Deputies worked together to located Morelock.  He was subsequently taken into custody and was transported to Binghamton General Hospital for a medical evaluation.  Morelock was later processed and transported to Broome County Central Arraignment and Processing. 
 
On September 14, 2019 at approximately 3:43 a.m., New York State Police at Norwich arrested Benjamin J. Ryan, age 34 of Coventry, NY for the felonies of Driving While Intoxicated (with a previous conviction within 10 years) and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the first degree.  He was also issued tickets for No License and Operating Out of Ignition Interlock Device Restriction.   Troopers on State Route 206 in the town of Coventry observed a vehicle parked behind a closed fruit stand, with its lights on and running and went to check on it.  After they finally woke the driver (Ryan) they observed that he appeared to be intoxicated.  After an investigation, he was arrested for DWI, with a reportable B.A.C of .15%. Ryan was arraigned in the town of Coventry court where he was remanded to the Chenango County Jail on $2,500 cash bail or $5,000 bond. 
 
On September 14, 2019 at approximately 1:21 p.m., New York State Police at Stamford arrested John D. Bourgholtzer, age 71 of Harpersfield, NY for the misdemeanor of Driving While Intoxicated with a reportable B.A.C of .14%.  Troopers were dispatched to a report of a one-car accident on Streeter Hill Road in the town of Harpersfield with no operator in sight.  An investigation revealed that the vehicle belonged to Bourgholtzer and troopers located him sitting on his porch a short distance away with facial injuries.  Bourgholtzer was checked out by AMR and signed off on further evaluation.  Troopers subsequently arrested him for DWI and he was issued tickets to appear in the town of Harpersfield court on October 21, 2019. 
 
On September 15, 2019 at approximately 3:52 a.m., New York State Police at Owego arrested Gerald J. Baker, age 60 of Elmira, NY for misdemeanor Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs and Alcohol and issued a ticket for Moved from Lane Unsafely.  Troopers were dispatched to an accident on State Route 17-C in the town of Barton and learned that Baker was on 17-C when he attempted to avoid an animal in the road, drove off the roadway and struck a guide rail and Verizon telephone pole.  After an investigation, Baker was arrested and subsequently released on tickets to appear in the town of Barton court on September 24, 2019. 
 
On September 18, 2019 at approximately 12:07 a.m., New York State Police at Oneonta arrested James Raczkowski, age 46 of Schenectady, NY for the misdemeanor of Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated.  Troopers were dispatched to the report of an erratic operator on State Highway 23 in the town of Davenport.  Troopers located the vehicle, with Raczkowski behind the wheel.  Troopers also located an open container of beer in the cup holder, still cool to the touch.  After an investigation, Raczkowski was arrested; his reportable B.A.C was .21%.  Raczkowski was subsequently released to a sober third party and is to appear in the town of Davenport court on October 8, 2019. 
 
On September 18, 2019 at approximately 10:30 p.m., New York State Police at Endwell arrested Gerard P. Clune, age 50 of Endicott, NY for the misdemeanor of Driving While Intoxicated.  He was also issued a ticket for Refusal to Submit to a Breath Test.  Troopers were on West Main Street in the village of Endicott when Clune was driving in the right lane next to the trooper’s patrol vehicle.  Troopers had to take evasive action when Clune swerved into their lane of travel.  A traffic stop was subsequently initiated and after an investigation, Clune was arrested for DWI, he refused to submit to a breath test at the scene and to a chemical test at the state police barracks.  Clune was processed and transported to Broome County Central Arraignment and Processing.  He was scheduled to appear in the village of Endicott court on September 19, 2019. 
 
On September 20, 2019 at approximately 9:06 p.m., New York State Police at Ithaca arrested Douglas C. Kelley, age 67 of Trumansburg, NY for the misdemeanor of Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated and also issued a ticket for Moved from Lane Unsafely.  Troopers were dispatched to the area of Curry Road and State Route 277 in the town of Ulysses for a report of a property damage accident.  An investigation revealed that Kelley was intoxicated when he accidentally drove into a ditch.  He was subsequently arrested, with a reportable B.A.C of .20%.  Kelley was processed and released on appearance tickets to the town of Ulysses court on October 1, 2019 then turned over to a sober third party. 
 
On September 21, 2019 at approximately 2:30 a.m., New York State Police at Endwell arrested April M. Hardenbergh, age 36 of Binghamton, NY for the felony of Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the first degree and the misdemeanor of Driving While Intoxicated.  Troopers on patrol observed Hardenbergh’s vehicle parked diagonally in the main driveway of a parking lot and sitting in the driver’s seat reclined so they checked on her welfare.  After an investigation, Hardenbergh was arrested.  Her reportable B.A.C was .17%.  She was processed and turned over to Broome County Central Arraignment and Processing. 
 
On September 21, 2019 at approximately 2:43 a.m., New York State Police at Owego arrested Adam Szadkowski, age 37 of Newark Valley, NY For the misdemeanor of Driving While Intoxicated, he was also issued tickets for Moved from Lane Unsafely and Failure to Keep Right.  Troopers were dispatched by Tioga County 911 to a report of a one-car crash on Newark Valley Maine Road in the town of Newark Valley.  Reports to 911 stated the vehicle struck trees, became engulfed in flames and the operator was able to get out.  An investigation revealed that Szadkowski went off the roadway then crashed into a parked vehicle in a driveway.  Szadkowski was arrested, processed and released on appearance tickets to the town of Newark Valley Court on September 26, 2019. 
 
On September 22, 2019 at approximately 2:24 a.m., New York State Police at Binghamton arrested Meredith N. Mullins, age 33 of Binghamton for the felony of Driving While Intoxicated (with a previous conviction within 10 years).  Troopers were dispatched to the report of a person passed out in the driver’s seat in the driving lane of Woodcrest Way in the town of Conklin.  Troopers located Mullins in her vehicle, stopped but still in drive.  After an investigation, Mullins was arrested, with a reportable B.A.C of .22%.  She was processed and later released to a sober third party and will appear in the town of Conklin court on October 9, 2019. 
 
On September 22, 2019 at approximately 6:22 a.m., New York State Police at Binghamton arrested Emily D. Platner, age 20 of Windsor, NY for the misdemeanor of Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated, she was also issued tickets for Failed to Use Designated Lane and Failure to Keep Right.  Troopers were dispatched by Broome County 911 to a report of a vehicle traveling in the wrong direction on Court Street in the town of Kirkwood.  Troopers were able to catch up to the vehicle on Sanitaria Springs Road in the town of Colesville, still traveling in the wrong lane.  An investigation revealed Platner was impaired, with a reportable B.A.C of .19%.   She was arrested and subsequently released to a sober third party.  Platner was issued appearance tickets to the town of Colesville court on October 2, 2019. 
 
On September 22, 2019 at approximately 6:53 p.m., New York State Police at Sidney arrested Tonya M. Loveland, age 34 of Unadilla, NY for the felony of Driving While Intoxicated (with a previous conviction within 10 years).  Troopers were dispatched to a complaint of a domestic dispute near Butternut Road in the town of Unadilla and that one person involved in the dispute left the area in a vehicle, drunk.  Troopers located and observed Loveland operating a vehicle on Butternut Road and after an investigation, she was arrested.  Her reportable B.A.C was .14%.  Loveland was processed and released on appearance tickets returnable to the town of Unadilla court on October 14, 2019. 
 
On September 22, 2019 at approximately 10:13 p.m., New York State Police at Homer arrested Anna R. Post, age 39 of Scipio Center, NY for the misdemeanor of Driving While Intoxicated.  Troopers were dispatched to a report of a car in the ditch near the area on State Route 90 and Kinney Gulf Road in the town of Homer.  Troopers located Post in her vehicle and the front end of her vehicle in the ditch.  As troopers interviewed Post, they observed several common characteristics associated with alcohol impairment.  After an investigation, she was arrested; Post’s reportable B.A.C was .13%.  She was processed and released on appearance tickets to the town of Homer court on October 8, 2019. 
 
On September 27, 2019 at approximately 9:51 p.m., New York State Police at Ithaca arrested Christine M. Yorke, age 35 of Lansing, NY for the misdemeanor of Driving While Intoxicated with a reportable B.A.C of .17%.  A Tompkins County Sheriff’s Deputy observed the vehicle Yorke was operating fail to keep right and initiated a traffic stop and contacted troopers to assist.  After an investigation, Yorke was arrested and later released on appearance tickets to the town of Lansing court on October 10, 2019 then turned over to a sober third party. 
 
September 28, 2019 at approximately 2:46 a.m., New York State Police at Sidney arrested Tyler J. Jordan, age 20 of Oneonta, NY for the misdemeanor of Driving While Intoxicated with a reportable B.A.C of .15%.  He was also issued a ticket for speed not reasonable and prudent and moved from lane unsafely.  Troopers were dispatched to a report of a property damage accident on State Highway 7 in the town of Unadilla.  An investigation revealed that Jordan was operating a pick-up truck when he exited the roadway, struck a NYSEG utility pole causing power lines to fall onto the roadway.  Jordan was not injured during the crash.  He was arrested and issued appearance tickets to the town of Unadilla court on October 21, 2019. 
 
On September 28, 2019 at approximately 5:57 p.m., New York State Police at Richfield Springs arrested Donnie J. Parrish, age 43 of Maryland, NY for the misdemeanor of Driving While Intoxicated.  He was also issued tickets for Moved from Lane Unsafely and No Insurance.  Troopers were dispatched to assist Forest Rangers with a four-wheeler accident on Lafleure Road in the town of Roseboom.  An investigation revealed that Parrish was traveling on Lafleure Road at an unsafe speed, drifted into the shoulder then into a ditch when he overturned.  No injuries were reported.  He was found to be intoxicated, with a reportable B.A.C of .17%. 
 
On September 29, 2019 at approximately 2:30 a.m., New York State Police arrested Kevin C. O’Brien, age 33 of Binghamton, NY for the misdemeanor of Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated.  He was also issued tickets for Moved From Lane Unsafely, Operating a Motor Vehicle without Inspection Certificate, Inadequate Plate Lamps and Failure to Dim Headlights.  Troopers were on Upper Court Street in the town of Kirkwood when O’Brien failed to dim his high beams while traveling the opposite way.  Troopers then observed the vehicle make an unsafe lane change and initiated a traffic stop.  After an investigation, he was arrested for DWI.  His reportable B.A.C was .23%.  O’Brien was turned over to a sober third party and is ordered to appear in the town of Kirkwood court on October 15, 2019. 
 
On September 29, 2019 at approximately 12:52 p.m., New York State Police at Richfield Springs arrested Wanda J. Schultz, age 70 of Richfield Springs, NY for the misdemeanor of Driving While Intoxicated with a reportable B.A.C of .12%.  She was also issued a ticket for Failure to Obey Stop/Park Sign.  Otsego County 911 dispatched a BOLO (be on the lookout) for an intoxicated operator.  A trooper located Schultz’s vehicle parked at a drug store on Main Street in a no parking zone and parked awkwardly.  The trooper observed Schultz intoxicated.  After an investigation, she was arrested.  Schultz was issued appearance tickets to the village of Richfield Springs court for October 15, 2019 then turned over to a sober third party. 
 
On September 29, 2019 at approximately 10:42 p.m., New York State Police at Ithaca arrested Bryce R. Zdyb, age 22 of Hector, NY for the misdemeanor of Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated.  A trooper initiated a traffic stop after he observed Zdyb speeding on State Route 13 in the village of Lansing.  After an investigation, troopers arrested Zdyb for DWI.  His reportable B.A.C was .26%.  Zdyb was processed then later released on appearance tickets returnable to the town of Lansing court on October 15, 2019 then turned over to a sober third party.
