On October 16, 2019, State Police in Schodack in conjunction with the Troop G Computer Crimes Unit, arrested 28-year-old Joel T. Archambault of North Greenbush, for Promotion of a Sexual Performance by a Child (D felony) and Possession of a Sexual Performance by a Child (E felony).

Archambault is accused of downloading and disseminating images consistent with child sexual exploitation via the internet. He was taken into custody after the execution of a search warrant at his residence.

Archambault was arraigned in North Greenbush Town Court this morning and released on his own recognizance. He is due back in court on October 29, 2019 at 6:00 p.m.

The investigation stemmed from a cyber tip received by the New York State Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. State Police members were assisted by agents from Homeland Security Investigations.

Archambault is the State University of New York Police Deputy Chief assigned to SUNY System Plaza in Albany, and also a part-time member of the Whitehall Police Department.
