On October 14, 2019, State Police in Wilton arrested 46-year-old Anthony M. Burnett of Gansevoort, for Driving While Intoxicated (misdemeanor), Reckless Driving (misdemeanor), Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle 3rd degree, and multiple vehicle and traffic infractions.

State Police attempted to stop Burnett’s vehicle shortly before 2:00 a.m. on Monday, after he failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of North Pines Road and Worth Road in Gansevoort. When the Trooper activated their emergency lights Burnett fled south on State Route 9.

As Burnett continued to disregard police attempts to stop his vehicle, Troopers observed sparks and then fire erupt from his vehicle’s undercarriage.

Burnett came to a stop on Gailor Road and fled on foot. He was taken into custody a short time later. Burnett’s vehicle became fully engulfed in flames requiring fire crews to respond.

Burnett had shown signs of intoxication while at the scene and once he was transported to SP Wilton he provided a breath sample of .08% B.A.C.

He was arraigned in Wilton Town Court and remanded to Saratoga County Jail on $500 cash or $500 bond. He is due to reappear on October 22, 2019 at 11:00 a.m.
