Victim gives note to waitress to call police after alleged domestic incident

PRESS RELEASE

On October 8, 2019 at approximately 12:45 a.m., New York State Police at Endwell arrested Newell A. Dickson, age 28 of Endicott, NY for the felony of Strangulation in the second degree and the misdemeanor of Criminal Mischief in the fourth degree (prevent emergency call). 

Troopers were dispatched a business on Hooper Road in the town of Union on October 5 after a victim gave a note to a waitress that said she had been involved in a domestic dispute and needed help. 

Troopers arrived on scene and the victim told them that while in a vehicle with Dickson, they got into an argument and Dickson prevented the victim from calling 911 and also choked the victim.  Dickson had already left the scene but later reported to SP Endwell to turn himself in.  He was processed then transported to Broome County Central Arraignment and Processing. 

The victim, was also arrested for possession of suspected methamphetamine and was issued an appearance ticket to the town of Union court on October 15, 2019.
