Traffic stop leads to seizure of an illegal handgun and drugs from impaired driver on the Thruway.

Buffalo, NY – On November 8, 2019, shortly after 10:00 p.m., State Police stopped a vehicle on I-190 in the city of Buffalo, for a vehicle and traffic violation.  The driver, Johnny D. Moore Jr., 31, of Buffalo, NY, was found to be intoxicated and taken into custody.  Troopers then located a loaded Smith & Wesson .357 Magnum handgun, approximately 12 grams of cocaine, and over 7 ounces of marijuana inside the vehicle.  Investigation revealed the firearm was stolen.   
 
Moore was transported and processed at SP Buffalo where his blood alcohol content was determined to be .11%.  He was charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd degree (loaded firearm other than a person’s home); a Class C Felony, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 4th degree; a Class C Felony, Criminal Possession of Marijuana 4th degree; a Class A Misdemeanor and Driving While Intoxicated; an Unclassified Misdemeanor.
 
Moore was transported to the Buffalo City lock up to await arraignment.  No return court date is available at this time.
